Hello! My name is Steven Belanger; on this site I post news about my writing, and the occasional novel excerpt. (There's a free short story, "Shadows," too.) If you like what you read, please spread the word, okay? Tell everyone you know who likes a good story. And please visit my blog, Writing It Down. I write a new entry 2-3 times a week, on average. May 5, 2012: "Someone to Come Home to," a short nonfiction piece about how my life improved after I adopted a greyhound, is now in an anthology being sold on Amazon, at this link. If you like uplifting stories about how to survive the anxieties that life often throws at us, please give it a look. Thanks! March 23, 2012: "Hide the Weird" is currently appearing in Space and Time Magazine, available at a newsstand near you, or via www.spaceandtimemagazine.com. After you've read it, please click the "Contact" link to the right, and send me a short email letting me know what you think of the story! Or go to my blog and comment on the "Hide the Weird" entry. Either way, I promise to get back to you in a timely fashion. Thanks! January, 2012: A short nonfiction piece, "Someone To Come Home To," has recently been purchased for an anthology. Details to come. January 19, 2011: A new (and free!) short story, "Shadows," has been posted to the "Writings" section to the right. If you like stories about disappearances--from reality, from the lives and memories of others--told in a surreal tone, please check it out. Let me know what you think--send me an email (see the "Contact" section) or go to my blog and leave a comment. Or just read, and enjoy. Thanks! December 8, 2010: I just created My Sports Blog, so go there, please and thank you, if you're interested in sports--mostly baseball and football, but I'm game for anything. HA! Get it?!? There's a post now up about the recent Adrian Gonzalez trade and its aftereffects. Please don't forget about my Writing Blog. Go there. Now. And the good people at Space and Time Magazine publish worthwhile stories. Go there while you're waiting for them to publish mine, titled "Hide the Weird." Thanks again. In other news, I've had a story or two (TBA) accepted for publication, so I'll include the news about that soon. I just finished another Masters class, and I'm toying with the idea of putting some of my papers on this site. I'm also tidying up some essays and short stories, excerpts of which I may include here. And I've been working on my (many) novel manuscripts, so you'll probably see a first chapter, or an excerpt, of those coming soon, as well. Look to the right (but only on this page; never in real life!) for those links soon. Sorry for the long delay. Thanks for checking back! In the "Writings" section on this site, I've uploaded an excerpt--the prologue and the first chapter--of my 76,000-word mystery novel, Cursing the Darkness. I am currently seeking literary representation for this work. If you like what you read, please let others know, okay? As always, thanks! |
